Event Details
Join us for a free festival of street art, music and entertainment and watch internationally renowned Australian artist and muralist Loretta Lizzio paint live on the Hellenic Museum’s forecourt.
Part carnival and part urban art laboratory, the centrepiece of BLOCK PARTY will be a 3-part art commission, where Loretta will bring to life the stories of three ancient Greek women who broke the mould, contributing to history and myth.
While Loretta’s artwork adorns walls and galleries from Vancouver and London to the silos of Brunswick, it’s a privilege to have her signature style exhibited at the Hellenic Museum. This family-friendly event encourages dialogue and discussion with the artist and exploration of the Museum grounds.
BLOCK PARTY will also feature an exciting array of activities including Greek coffee readings, ancient-inspired board games, ceramic painting workshops, and live music in the evening. A plethora of Greek food and drink will be available to purchase to support the artistic commission.
A celebration of perseverance, womanhood and artistic expression, BLOCK PARTY will reconnect people and welcome visitors back to the city of Melbourne.
Let us heighten your senses. Experience art live.
BLOCK PARTY is free to attend and the Museum is also free to attend on the day.
