Polyhymnia Muse Mug
  • Polyhymnia Muse Mug

The Hellenic Musuem has partnered with Natalie Rompotis Illustration and Salt&Pepper to produce the final set of five limited edition mugs in the Muses series, reimagining mythical muses representing poetry, astronomy, dance, and music, inspired by the nine goddesses of ancient Greek mythology who symbolized the arts, sciences, and literature.

    Polyhymnia

In Greek mythology, Polyhymnia is the Muse of Sacred Poetry, Eloquence and Geometry, one of the nine Muses who were sources of inspiration for the arts, science and philosophy. She is often depicted with a compass, or with a pensive or meditative expression. Her name comes from the Greek words poly and hymnos, meaning “many hymns” or “many praises.”
